JV Firebirds: Week 4 recap and Week 5 preview

The JV Firebirds split their series against the Desert Mountain Wolves and lost one against the Notre Dame Prep Saints last week. They beat the Wolves at DM on Mon Apr 6, 6-3 with 8 hits, including 3 from sophomore Luca Montemore, who also drove in an RBI. Sophomore Jirah Jensen (3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2K) started and junior Caden Carey (0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) got the save. The Birds then fell to Wolves at home on Wed April 8 2-5. Junior Andres Sanchez led the team with 2 hits. The Birds finished the week with a loss at NDP 3-11 on Fri April 10. The team was held to only 3 hits, and pitching was led by sophomore starter Andrew Nishida-Grimm (3.1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 1 K) and sophomore Rory Stallone (1.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K). This week, the JV Birds finish their series against the Saints at home on Mon April 13 at 3:45 pm, then play the Campo Verde Coyotes at home on Tues April 14 at 3:45 pm, and at the Coyotes on Thurs April 16 at 3:45 pm.
