The Freshman Firebirds had a great week of baseball last week, sweeping their series against the Desert Mountain Wolves, then beating Notre Dame Prep Saints as well. On Mon April 6 they beat DM 5-4 behind 7 team hits, including 2 singles from Colson Good and 2 2B from Alan Grijalva. They beat the Wolves again at home on Wed April 8 8-6 with pitching from starter Brandon Smith (3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) and closer Keegan Hodges (3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO). They had another big day at the plate with 9 hits, including a 2B and single from Dominic Rodriguez. They finished the week with a win at the NDP Saints on Fri Apr 10 4-2. Starter Colson Good (5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 12 K) dominated before handing it off to closer Dominic Rodriguez (2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3K). Colson Good and Blake Henderson collected 2 hits as well. This week, the Freshman Birds face the NDP Saints at home on Mon Apr 13 at 3:45 pm, then play a series against the Campo Verde Coyotes at home on Tue April 14 at 3:45 pm and finish on on Thurs April 16 away at the Coyotes at 3:45 pm. Let's Go Birds!

What a great week for the Freshman Firebirds! Sweeping the series and getting that win against NDP shows this team has real depth. Colson Good's pitching performance was outstanding with 12 Ks. Good luck against Campo Verde this week – keep the bats hot and the pitching sharp! Just like a thorough home inspection in Maryland uncovers hidden issues before they become problems, this team is uncovering their winning formula early in the season. Let's Go Birds!
