Freshman Firebirds: Week 3 Recap and Week 4 Preview

The Freshman Firebirds stayed hot this week winning both games against the Arizona College Prep Knights. On Tues March 31, they won 6-5 at home behind a huge day on the mound for Keagan Hodges (5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 11 K). They were led at the plate by Brandon Smith (2-4, 3B, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Colson Good (1-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R). The Firebirds went on the road to dominate the Knights on Wed April 1 with a 19-7 win. Pitching was balanced with Brandon Smith (2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K), Dominic Rodriguez (2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) and Alan Grijalva (1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1K) each contributing to the win. At the plate, the Firebirds were led by Colson Good (1-3, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI), Miles Lewis (2-3, 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI), and Dominic Rodriguez (1-4, 2 RBI). Next week, the Freshman Birds face the Desert Mountain Wolves in an away game on Mon April 6 at 3:45 pm and then at home on Wed April 8 at 3:45 pm. They finish the week at the Notre Dame Prep Saints on Friday, April 10 at 4:00 pm. Come out and cheer on the Firebirds!
